Appledore, North Devon, England. 21st December 2021 - On the day of the Winter Solstice, A giant knitted and crocheted 'Christmas Tree' brightens up the shortest day of the year in Appledore, North Devon. Volunteers spent many hours crocheting enough squares to produce the amazing display which includes a chair, Christmas stockings, sleeping cat, pom-pom robins, mistletoe and the giant 4.5 metre tree. The award-winning family run business comprising of a delicatessen, cafe and grocers. Best known for their support of local and homemade produce, John's have two shops on opposite sides of the River Torridge, one in Appledore and one in Instow. The shops & staff continue to provide both villages with an amazing service throughout these difficult times.
